"It's Getting Worse, and I'm Voting for Obama"

If someone could explain this mentality to me (what is it--stubbornness? masochism? pathological cluelessness? all of the above?) it would be greatly appreciated.

The answer is _none_ of the above. The expanded answer is that _tribalism_, an irrational loyalty to one's kinship/social group, which handily trumps facts and logic, drives their devotion to President Obama. Besides, as I have commented many times before on Scaramouche's blog, people are quite willing to cut off their noses to spite their faces. The psychic reward of feeling that they are "sticking it to the Man" by voting for Obama is, for the overwhelming majority of black Americans, ample recompense for any loss of material utility they might suffer . . . and, besides, as the article in the _Star_ makes clear, the President's black partisans do not blame him for their woes under his Administration: they are all the fault of the evil, rich honkeys who just want to keep the black man down.
